Our Approach
Most plant subscription boxes send the same plants to everyone. We take a different approach: your home's actual conditions determine what arrives at your door each month. Here is how we think about plant subscriptions differently.
Before your first delivery, you complete a short onboarding quiz. It asks which direction your windows face, how many hours of direct sunlight reach your space, whether you have pets or young children, and how much experience you have keeping plants alive.
These answers are not decoration. They directly determine which plants are eligible for your subscription. A subscriber in a basement apartment with one small north-facing window receives a completely different catalog of options than someone with a south-facing wall of glass in a high-rise.
You can update your quiz answers at any time. If you move, add a grow light, or simply feel ready for more challenging plants, your selections will reflect that change starting with your next shipment.
The quiz is short enough to complete in one sitting but detailed enough to matter.
Two Approaches
Understanding the trade-offs between different approaches helps you decide what kind of subscription fits your situation.
Neither approach is universally better. The right choice depends on your home, your goals, and how much variety versus predictability you want.
Education First
A lot of plant care advice is instruction without explanation. "Water every seven days" tells you what to do but not why that interval matters, or what to look for when your plant needs water sooner or later than the schedule suggests.
Our care cards are written differently. They explain the underlying logic: why this plant stores water in its leaves, why it needs to dry out between waterings, what root rot looks like before it becomes fatal, and how to adjust care based on your season and humidity.
The seasonal tip sheet adds another layer. It covers what is happening across all the plants you have accumulated, not just the new arrival. As your collection grows, the tip sheet becomes more useful each month.
Understanding your plants changes how you interact with them.
Flexibility
Pausing your subscription requires no reason, no approval, and no waiting period. Log in, select pause, and your next billing cycle will not charge. Resume whenever you choose.
Cancellation is available from your account at any time. There are no cancellation fees, no required phone calls, and no retention flows designed to make you change your mind.
Your quiz answers are not permanent. If your living situation changes, if you acquire a grow light, or if you simply want to try more challenging plants, update your profile and the next selection will reflect it.
If you are traveling or simply have enough plants for now, you can skip a single month without pausing the entire subscription. Your billing cycle adjusts accordingly.
Flexibility is not a feature we added later. It was part of the design from the beginning.
The onboarding quiz is where the personalization begins. Walk through the questions to understand how your home's conditions translate into plant selections.
